We just gave this to our 5 1/2 year old. This handy tray creates a work space for everything to stay in one place. He's played with it everyday since for a week. It is safe and very smart.
Excellent and easy to read instructions, as well. And with that, it's a better teaching tool because it provides reduced chaos to the learner. I can't recommend this product enough, and it is well worth the money. Whomever designed and created this certainly knew what they were doing. We can throw all the other (5) kits out and he'd be just fine with this one kit for the rest of his learning. He immediately stopped opening all his other Christmas presents and began to play with this for two hours straight.
We've even taken it on a road trip already, it's so portable. From experience and exposure to other lesser products on the market, this is the kit to buy. This toy provides two large booklets full of experiments that teach things like how to make a Police Siren, how to light up bulbs and how to set a flying object in motion with enough electricity. All of our other science kits created mess on the floor ~ I would usually find loose wires, old batteries, magnets and broken bulbs.
He would have started on them right away if he had been given the opportunity. My nephew really was excited by this toy. He made two projects by the next morning after receiving it.
They also work and seem very durable. They are great and he can do them by himself. This is an excellent product and well worth the money. I bought 2 of these based on the positive reviews for Christmas, one as a gift and the other for my 12 year old son. He has had a lot of fun putting the projects together.
She needs help in doing some of the harder ones but really enjoys it. Great for 8 and up or younger if they can keep up with the parts. This was on my daughters Santa list and her Grandpa had one at his house. very easy to follow and made to last. The smaller project one is just enough stuff for my child to do. She is ten and loves making things. She has a few of the projects memorized and can do them quickly.
The projects are well laid-out plus they describe some of the science behind them. My 9-year-old son received this for Christmas and has spent many hours playing with it. It's nice to have a toy that lives up to the hype. My 7-year-old has also been putting projects together. None of the snap pieces have broken yet. The kit came with two large booklets of projects, which have been fun and educational for us.
